2019
B2B Marketing
Resolutions

It’s the time of the year when B2B practitioners assess their past initiatives and create New Year's resolutions to better their marketing efforts. This collection of personal and professional resolutions from industry experts at companies such as Google, Oracle and LinkedIn aims to highlight the plethora of trends and tactics B2B practitioners are planning to focus on in 2019.

1

What are some of your personal resolutions for 2019?

Eat healthy, exercise regularly and spend as much time as possible with my family and friends.
2

What are some of your B2B marketing resolutions?

Operationalize the customer experience. Integrate voice, chatbots and conversational web into omni-channel campaigns — both internally and for our customers. Shift balance of marketing from inbound and demand generation to ABM concentration.
3

Why would you recommend your peers make B2BMX a part of their 2019 plans?

Great content, high-caliber attendees, gracious hosts, Arizona in February — duh! Highly interactive and collaborative.

Kelvin Gee

1

What are some of your personal resolutions for 2019?

To be more mindful — there are only so many keystrokes we all have left.
2

What are some of your B2B marketing resolutions?

To create more engaging B2B content through effective storytelling, and to prove that companies can execute account-based strategies at scale.
3

Why would you recommend your peers make B2BMX a part of their 2019 plans?

It is one of my favorite conferences because of its location (Scottsdale, Ariz.), and it is small enough where everyone knows everyone, and the content is always good.

1

What are some of your personal resolutions for 2019?

This year, I’m going to work on making better choices about the food I eat, practicing my drumming more regularly and taking more time to better reflect on and appreciate all the great people in my life.
2

What are some of your B2B marketing resolutions?

The last year for me — and for my agency — has been all about focus. Choosing what not to be, what not to do and who not to target. That, naturally, led us to account-based strategy development and experimentation. 2019 is the year we’ll learn from our pilots and scale our own ABM efforts.
3

Why would you recommend your peers make B2BMX a part of their 2019 plans?

B2BMX has been at the top of my B2B conference can’t-miss list for a few years now. High-level networking; great content; perfect size; beautiful location (hello, Scottsdale in February!). The B2BMX team also does a great job of evolving the event experience to stay fresh and relevant.

1

What are some of your personal resolutions for 2019?

I’d like to be more intentional with my time and energy in 2019. Investing in people and experiences that make me feel like I have more to give to others. If you haven’t read “The Four Agreements” by Don Miguel Ruiz, I’d highly recommend it. It’s packed with Toltec wisdom, including the four agreements to living a better life: be impeccable with your word, don’t take anything personally, don’t make assumptions (ask more questions), and always do your best.

2

What are some of your B2B marketing resolutions?

I’m going to focus on doing fewer things better and execute fewer, higher impact projects better. We’re all busy in marketing, but if we’re not busy doing the right things, our energy is wasted.

As a content marketer, I’ll launch a campaign and move on to the next very quickly. On my team, we’re resolving to let our content breathe a bit more. There’s no prize for hitting publish and it’s unrealistic to think that just because we published something once in one content format means that our entire audience has seen it. Your audience is likely pretty diverse and has a variety of different content consumption preferences. The same person who prefers a 60-second video might not want the 50-page E-book and vice versa.

In 2019, my team is going to focus on spending roughly 20% our time creating content and 80% of our time strategically distributing it. We’ll keep a close eye on what’s working and what’s not so we can optimize campaigns in real time.

3

Why would you recommend your peers make B2BMX a part of their 2019 plans?

The marketing landscape is ever-evolving and if you want to keep pace with what’s top of mind for the best and brightest in B2B, you should attend. Plan to be inspired, entertained and come home with tangible takeaways for you and your team.

1

What are some of your personal resolutions for 2019?

I’m resolving to personally do less by creating repeatable systems for the work that adds less value to my business, and by hiring awesome people that I can trust. I’ve always been a big believer in the personal Kanban framework for limiting work in progress, so I want to double down on those practices to help manage my different priorities (entrepreneurship, triathlon training, family).
2

What are some of your B2B marketing resolutions?

Create more customized and personalized ways to communicate with our existing customers and prospects. We know a lot about where people are in their journey and we should do more to support them based on those stages.
3

Why would you recommend your peers make B2BMX a part of their 2019 plans?

Every in-person event delivers far more value than you invest. From the new tactics you learn to the contacts you make, events are some of the best ways to spend time and budget whether you’re an entrepreneur or an individual contributor.

1

What are some of your personal resolutions for 2019?

I have a strong belief that the universe gives back to each of us in proportion to how much value we bring to others. I plan on being generous with my time, my money and my ability to teach others what I know.
2

What are some of your B2B marketing resolutions?

I will be saying “no” much more often in 2019. I’ve found that there are way too many marketing opportunities that come my way, so I will politely decline most so I can have the time to dig in deep and work hard on a few important projects.
3

Why would you recommend your peers make B2BMX a part of their 2019 plans?

Unlike the vast majority of marketing events, B2BMX is focused on the needs of business-to-business. I love to learn from the best and the brightest speakers at the beginning of the year, while there is still time to build new ideas into my own marketing plans.

1

What are some of your personal resolutions for 2019?

“Carpe Diem” is my motto for 2019. I am going to try and slow down and just enjoy some of the simple moments with my family and friends.
2

What are some of your B2B marketing resolutions?

I’d like to spend more time testing and less time just doing. I’m always looking at results for my own marketing and my clients. But in 2019, I’d like to put some additional rigor into testing new ideas at least once or twice a month.
3

Why would you recommend your peers make B2BMX a part of their 2019 plans?

We go to events to connect and engage with smart and interesting folks in our profession and no event has more smart, interesting people than B2BMX. Come join us!

Masha Finkelstein

1

What are some of your personal resolutions for 2019?

I will continue to focus on helping others by sharing my life experiences and wisdom through writing, speaking and coaching. I recently joined a Google-led coaching program to help other Googlers with career growth, mindfulness and work-life balance.
2

What are some of your B2B marketing resolutions?

Focus: I want to make sure I am laser focused on two to three programs that will enable 10X awareness growth of our products among our named account prospects in the SMB and enterprise markets.

Efficiency: only focus marketing dollars on companies that are showing intent signals.
3

Why would you recommend your peers make B2BMX a part of their 2019 plans?

When I went to B2BMX last year, I left with at least four actionable takeaways that I applied to the programs I was running at the time. I also made a few friends and new connections, which is always the best part of going to marketing events!

What are some of your personal resolutions for 2019?

I’ve been doing Iyengar Yoga for years. I want to take teacher-training classes — not to teach, but to further improve my technique. Oh, I also want to learn how to Tango. It’s ambitious, but I’d love to give it a try.
2

What are some of your B2B marketing resolutions?

In 2018, I started to integrate all the tools I use for my marketing outreach. For 2019, I want to further integrate my marketing automation, CRM, analytics and other tools that I use to further optimize my own marketing outreach.
3

Why would you recommend your peers make B2BMX a part of their 2019 plans?

The conference is a great place to learn more about how to evaluate your inbound and outbound marketing processes and identify areas that you can either optimize or improve. You will also be exposed to new tools and technologies. Not all may work for you, but you’ll learn from it. Technology continues to play a critical role in marketing. The best way to stay on top of it is to try and learn new tools and the B2BMX conference is a great place to start.
